Hey guys!
So my friend is going to Denmark next semester and she has a new digital camera but doesn't have that big of a memory card and doesn't have access to a computer that often.
I was wondering, is there any kind of external device where you can upload your pictures/view them, without putting them on a computer. There's the new IPOD but thats not going to work out.
Does anyone have any ideas? Her birthday's coming up so I'm looking for ideas. |

-There are portable cd/dvd burners with card readers.
-Devices with viewing screens and card readers.
-Devices with card readers but no viewing screens.
Really depends on how much you want to spend.
The different devices will use different format of power too. Some use proprietary batteries. Some may use AA batteries. Some may only have enough power for a certain amount of use before the batteries need to be recharged. |

There are threads often on this subject.
I have the X-drive II.
But I have no time, just at the moment, to search the forums.
Try a search on "portable storage"

These media storage devices aren't cheap. It would be a heck of a birthday present. The Epson P2000 is currently the best of the bunch. The Smartdisk FlashTrax is pretty good, too. A very large memory card would be a nice gift, too. |

I was recently in South Africa. Before the trip I looked into some kind of a data tank. The Archos g mini looked pretty good to me but I never ended up buying one. I ended up going to an Internet cafe every time my 2 1-gig cards were full and burned them to CD's. If I was able to find that resource in Africa I̢۪m sure that you could find it here. |

I have an Archos AV320 and bought a special cf reader that lets me dump my photos on the hard drive. They have many newer versions than mine now which are pricey, but you can find one cheap on Ebay. Cool thing is that you can play mp3's, videos, and view photos on it, rather than just having a hard drive. |

I have the Archos AV420. Great if you like watching movies too.
Smartdisk FlashTrax is probably the best bang for the buck, but it is rather large device. One of the cheapest ones with a viewing screen. |
