If I have a 1:2 300mm macro lens and add a x2 teleconvertor do I end up with a 1:1 600mm or just a 1:2 600mm? Wouldn't it be a 1:1 just being able to focus at the same spot only with twice the focal length? I hope someone understands this cause I just read it and I got a little confused.

1:2 600mm. The lens in the converter is making this happen. Look at it this way; if the manufacturer wanted to turn your 300mm into a 600mm they would add another, magnifying lens inside the barrel right? (I realize this is a gross oversimplification) The teleconverter just makes that extra element removeable.

To get this lens to shoot 1:1 you need an extension tube, which will cost you your ability to focus to infinity.

Ok, got that. Now if I can focus on say minimum 12 inches at 300mm and I add a x2 will the minimum focus become 24 inches ,or some other number?
