I have to agree with Brad, it's a GREAT GREAT lens for the money. I'm sure Canon would be happy to put their name it, if they could.

Did I mention GREAT?

I have that lens with my Pentax istD. I love it...sharp, quick and compact.

I got my Tamron 28-75mm a few weeks back! Fantastic lens and great value!

I purchased one of these lenses a while back and must say it is indeed incredibly good value for money. Some people will try and compare it to the Canon 24-70 2.8 L lens, and pound for pound (or dollar for dollar to my US friends) it isn't too far from the results obtained with that lens. I went `head to head` with Asaberi at a wedding recently where we took exactly the same shot, at the same settings. both using a 300D and whilst the Canon lens did have the edge when it came to contrast/sharpness, unless you are completely banal about the quality then it really does stand alongside it. I will dig out the two shots and post them on here later on tonight, unedited (just converted from RAW) so you can compare yourselves.
On another note, if I had the £££ (or $$$) for the canon lens then I would of gone for that, but due to fiscal restrictions put in place by my live-in financial auditer (AKA the girlfriend), I had to go for the Tamron. very happy with this lens.. Buy one!!
