Figured that might get some attention. I just got back from a quick trip across the state with my son and would like some comments on some of the pics from my road trip.

Come on, some of you owe me a few. :)

And not to be accused of false advertising, I do have a beaver shot in the collection, but I didn't shoot it - I mean photograph it - to hang on my wall, so no need to comment on that one.

He appeared to be freshly dead when I found him on a highway turnout. And while I was getting a couple shots of this guy, my son is yelling out the window that there is a black bear across the river. I ran back to the truck to get the 70-300mm lens, but was too late. Bummer.

Thanks to anyone who comments - I have a couple days work to catch up on now, so I'll check back when I can, if only to bump this a few times.

-Ken

edited because I obviously miscommunicated. :(

edited again to add some of my fav's from the trip to this post

Just to clarify - I don't really want comments on the beaver - just any of the other shots in my Road Trip folder: //www.dpchallenge.com/portfolio.php?USER_ID=28742&collection_id=10871

Thanks :)

Hey Ken, Ryan loves beavers, he's got a big stick to poke them with, just don't stand in front of him when he's on the scent. ):)

I still owed you two detailed critiques from the past contest, so you got three from me. :)

I'll take a moment to say that I hope my critique style isn't taken as nitpicky or offensive. I like the shots, but when I leave a detailed critique I always call out both the good and the "can be improved" side of the shots. Both sides of my opinion in this regard are of course totally subjective!

Thanks Neil! No apologies or disclaimers necessary - I can take, and appreciate, whatever you dish out.

Now off to read your (and others) insights...

Wow! Great feedback from all! Much appreciated.

Neil - your comments on the Farmer's Community Hall pic were amazing. Here is the original, unedited pic to show you how good you are at spotting details:
------ ORIGINAL --------- ------- EDITED ---------

Admittedly, I rushed through editing and the sky in most of them was bugging me, so I replaced it with an artificial sky in a couple shots. I also did the combined RAW editing technique on some. I took over 270 shots in 3 days and almost all of the ones of buildings in the fields were taken from the moving vehicle - I slowed down to about 20mph on some. Then I spent all day Sunday editing the RAW files and came out with about 120 keepers. So my workflow was frenetic and admittedly a little sloppy.

Thanks again to all who commented so far. I'll leave them up if anyone cares to poke criticism at me some more. :)

I'm impressed, no woodes in any of the pics!! Nice shots Ken! and a great way to spend time with your son.
