I've been thinking about candid shots a lot lately with all the hustle and bustle of the holiday and I was wondering a few things. Mainly the legal issues.

Is it okay to take pictures of people in public places without them knowing at all? Can you then do what you want with those pictures? I live in the US and would greatly like to know the legal limitations on candid photography. Do you have to get a model release form signed to use their picture? what if you sell it?

On the less legal side... How do you guys go about getting the shots? what if people notice you taking their picture? Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.

I can't seem to find it right now but there was quite a bit of talk about all of this in the forums back around the time of the Candid Challenge. You may want to check it out.
