I am wondering about the advantages of an external dvd burner. Are there any?
I suppose the fact that you can move it from computer to computer, and if you have a laptop without a burner, you can then get a burner... but is there other reasons? They are significatly more expensive it seems |

There are no advantages of a external dvd burner other than the ones you have already put down. |

If you have or use multiple computers then the external one is probably better then buying multiple internal ones. If you have just one computer, get the internal.
Between my wife and myself we have 4 computers. Much easier to have an external to use for backing stuff up for us.

The other big advantage of external components is that if one has a problem, you don't have to take your computer apart to fix it, and if the computer breaks, you won't have to try and salvage all the parts to outfit the replacement. |

also i generally think of that is one major advantage of a desktop.. you can 'easily just' swap out things if you want to upgrade or if they break (much better than a laptop) .. in this way they don't age nearly as quick. |
