no way I'll leave Adobe behind, I'm a Golive user too ;) I guess I can figure that out in some kind of way :)

Why would you leave Adobe behind? Maybe I missed something in the posts and am misunderstanding... I'm running a Powerbook G4 with the Mac version of Adobe CS2. GoLive, InDesign, Photoshop and all the rest of the goodies run just fine.

If you already own Adobe products, they will do a cross-platform upgrade. I had CS on my PC and upgraded to CS2 on the Mac for just the upgrade price (even though what they actually sent me was the full software package).

Back the the original question about monitors: I have a 20-inch flat panel with 600:1 compression in addition to the Powerbook's screen. I typically never use it, as the Powerbook's display seems to be a touch more accurate.

As for domain logins, that's something I've never tried, as I work in a high-security area and 3rd party machines aren't allowed onto the domain. However, I HAVE tried standard Mac-PC-Mac networking (no domain controller) and it worked just fine. The little reading I've done indicated that domain logins were not a problem. See //www.microsoft.com/technet/technetmag/issues/2005/01/MacSecure/default.aspx and scroll down to Native OSX support for more info.

You seriously need to look into this before you make the jump. Adobe licenses their Mac and PC versions separately, and you cannot "convert" from one license to the other. AFAIK, you'd have to buy new copies of your Adobe software to run on the Mac.

True that Adobe makes separate licenses for PC and Mac, but you CAN convert them (read my previous post about cross-platform upgrades).

I think I might upgrade CS2 for the Mac. I'll inform in the Apple shop for that too .

You'll probably have to do it yourself directly thru Adobe. Just give them a call (an actual person answered the phone within about 30 seconds). They'll direct you to a form you need to fill out to "confirm" that you'll not be using or reselling the PC version of the software you had (technically, you're supposed to destroy it). Then you'll fax that into them. Then you call them back and they'll allow you to purchase the "upgrade" version over the phone with your CC. What they'll actually send you is the full version.

Dont forget to use a windows USB mouse with it... then you dont have to CONROL 'CLICK' for a right click.. less hassle

Best tool for an Imack, sledge hammer, stay with PC. Mac lies about their stats, they are just as buggy or crash as hard or worse when they crash than an XP machine, more expensive, more difficult to fix, less software, they use the same graphics engines as PCs do....just dont do it man.

I'm giving the ctrl-click a chance for let's say one week. if it still gets me irritated in one week, I'll hang my win-mouse on her again ;)

what's RAM again?

Internal Memory I think they come with 256MB standard when you get a few $$$s spare have the shop fix her up to 1GB RAM (random access memory) Macs really like it when you feed them RAM.

got 1,5 GB RAM inside of her (haha ;)) so that's fixed.

(didn't know what the term RAM meant, in dutch it's just like "memory")
