Just wanted to know how you guys interpret pride? I shot some pics this weekend that i want to enter but i'm not sure how they will be received, pride is such a broad category. To me, what one person is proud about another could be ashamed of.

Enter your best possible picture which is your interpretation of the challenge. You cannot do anymore than that.

Cheers

A group of lions lounging under the soft afternoon sun around a kill. That's a pride.

Just think about what you've been proud of in the last few days. Find a catchy title and there you go.

I suspect we'll see a lot of patriotism shots - flags, and military stuff and such. I'm choosing to use the definition of pride as in the seven deadly sins -- kind of the ugly, selfish variety. I haven't shot a photo yet, but if I use the idea I have in mind it's along those lines.

From dictionary.com, the definitions I see being most commonly used.
Looks like there are a lot of ways to go. As long as the photo communicates one of these, I'm sure you're fine.

1. A sense of one's own proper dignity or value; self-respect.
2. Pleasure or satisfaction taken in an achievement, possession, or association: parental pride.
3. Arrogant or disdainful conduct or treatment; haughtiness.
4. A cause or source of pleasure or satisfaction; the best of a group or class: These soldiers were their country's pride.
5. An excessively high opinion of oneself; conceit.
7. A company of lions.

I'm doubtful just posting photos of things people happen to be proud of will be that effective though ie parental pride. Yeah, people are proud of their kids but will just some photo of a kid commuicate that as a primary message? Unlikely, unless the kid is holding a 1st place at the science fair ribbon or something...
