No, not the DP Challenge Heida- I haven’t lived out my desire to become a crazed paparazzi yet. Maybe one dayâ€Â¦
Anyways, this is kitten Heida. She was a tiny and unwanted kitten, dropped from a car onto the front door of my sisters office then left to fend for her 6 week old self as the car sped off. Being myself, I could no easier walk away from this scene than breath under water, so brought her home to live with me and my dog, another abandoned animal. She̢۪s a cutie, and likes to sit on my head. And it is with the brainstorm of another DPC member that I̢۪ve named her Heida.
So congratulations Heida, you̢۪ve lived every one̢۪s secret dream and had a cat named after you.

God bless you Sarah, you did a good thing saving that poor cat! I did that once and now I have three cats!

She's too cute and fluffy to be a "Heida"; Heidas are austere and elegant and mysterious and, well... Icelandic! But then again, maybe that's how she'll grow up :-) Have fun with her, she'll be a cat soon enough...

I disagree. Some very *cough* minor post-processing brings out the Icelandic in her...

Thanks everyone- animals are my weakness! And I'm really glad there are so many animal lovers out there. Little Heida's growing into quite a beauty and very aware of it. :-p Here's another picture of her:
PS- I laughed forever on that picture!

Congrats, I recently was adopted by an abandoned cat too. Mine, named Rhona, is fixed and declawed too...can't understand why a human being would do such a thing to a really wonderful cat! Good luck and thank God for suckers like us! |

Do what? I assume you don't object to fixing the cat so it can't reproduce? So you must be referring to declawing? I'm of mixed minds about that; if a cat is strictly a house cat, never stays outdoors, it's a pretty practical thing to do. Saves a HELL of a lot of wear and tear on the household... I've never actually declawed a cat, but I've adopted two that were, and as far as I can tell they didn't care...

I'm sorry, you misunderstood me...I can't see sending a declawed cat out into the elements to fend for herself...she was litterally starving because she couldn't hunt. All my pets are neutered and declawing doesn't bother me. It makes me wonder why someone would take the time and money to do it to a cat, then abandon her. Gotcha. Presumably the cat escaped and they couldn't find her. I'd prefer to believe that than think they just got tired of her and tossed her out to fend for herself.

Sad part is, I think I know where she came from and yes, they did just leave her...sometimes people just suck.Originally posted by bear_music: Gotcha.
