Everybody seems to agree on that point. Guess it's time to recalibrate my monitor, huh?!? :-)
Thanks for the feedback!

Is this the effect you were going for? ;-)

I think your first edit may be a little too yellow/warm, but I do like the crop. I dont think she needs too much work done to make her pretty, she already is.
That said I did a quick extreme edit just for fun.

Just a note really, coming from someone who has flat moles on my face. If I told you to make me beautiful, and you responded by removing features from my face that have been there my whole life, I would feel like utter crap. That's like saying 'those moles are what make you ugly'. Don't make her feel that the only way she can ever be beautiful is in a heavily edited photo of by having plastic surgery.
Take the photo, tweak the brightness/contrast whatever, and give it right back to her as is.
If she doesn't feel like that photo makes her beautiful, then take different pics. Different angles whatever.
Just my opinion really. If she's not already, removing them from a photo will make her self consious about those things for the rest of her life. *shrug* maybe others don't feel that way. |

I agree with hbunch7187, personally when editing a portrait i tend to burn the moles etc to enhance them. |

@PhillipDyer: Too funny! I bet she won't go for it though ... she's a "nice girl".

That's why it is important to talk to your client and find out exactly what they want. 'Beautiful' means different things to different people. My neice has a lot of freckles and the usual spattering of teenage acne. She begs me to remove them from pictures because in her eyes she doesnt have them and she wants some pics where she is the 'almost perfect' person like everyone else is. There are also lots of people who like their moles and people have been known to use fake ones for the very same reason. Without talking to the person it would be impossible to know, just like their definition of 'beautiful'. |

She is a beautiful woman. I would love to see what I could do with the full size file.
Here is my attempt

Well I guess I should post the one I did ;)
This is just eyes sharpened using the technique I talked about below, and then I skirted the cast/tones issue by converting to B&W.

Trying to keep it pretty natural. I need to do better around the hair, but this was just a quickie. |

Wow guys, these are all really nice. David, I think your edits are very well done. But I'd have to agree with Heather about leaving the little features that make her "Her". At least the more prominant moles/freckles or beauty marks to put it nicely. Unless of course she specifically asks for them to be removed. I just had to add my 2cents coming from a girl covered in freckles. :-) While softening might be okay, I'd hate to have someone edit out all my little angel kisses cause then it just wouldn't be me. :-D Now if you'd have asked me this back when i was a teenager I would've begged for them to magically disappear ... funny how things change. Anyhoo, I'm sure she'll be really pleased with the work you've done.

Sure, it was very simple - red green and blue output channels all just use the green input channel and nothing else. To do it properly i'd have probably made a few minor adjustments as well.

I did not take away the mole. Other detracting skin conditions I did remove.

After glancing at all the thumbnails (not the full sized pics) I say go with the B&W. |
