I don't mean to sound egotistic, but I'm really excited and I had to share. I submitted a couple photos I took of a wildfire in the mountains here in town to a local weekly newspaper. I've never submitted anything to a paper before. Well, to keep it short and simple, guess what was on the front page this week? This shot:
And they used the other one inside too:
I couldn't believe it. Here's a quick pic of the paper:
They really liked them, and asked me to keep the camera handy and send them more stuff as it happens. |

I bet few of us would be here if we didn't feel similarly excited about taking pictures. So toot away!

The first one is just awesome. That newspaper is lucky to have such a great photo grace its front page! Congratulations!

Hey! We must be neighbors because I get that paper every Saturday! Nice shots! You were definately in the right place to capture the fires.
Scary stuff last week wasn't it? Don't you hate the fact that as soon as the winds kick up here in So Cal that the fire bugs come out. Congrats on being published! |

| Wow! Thanks for all of the nice responses and feedback. I got really excited when I pulled up to the newspaper machine and saw from the car my photo on the front page. I wasn't expecting that. I have to say, I've done other "professional" things... mostly portraits, headshots and such, but seeing your first newspaper photo (especially on the front page) gives you a real sense of accomplishment and overwhelming excitement. I encourage everyone to send in stuff to your local papers, you might be nicely surprised where it ends up. Thanks again! |
