After much research, this member has come to find why a certain young member of this site has had such success in his challenge entries.

Young Joey had two consecutive Blue Ribbons and was taking up all the room on the home page of DPC last week. The result was to create an evil version of this once docile young man who is now power hungry for all of the attention this site can dish out. After his recent poor performance in the current recent Beverages challenge, he lost total control and locked all the site council members in a very grungy room. There he began his torture which involved rice, water, popsicle sticks, and one stick of wintergreen chewing gum. He managed to convince SC to disqualify enough images to get his entry back on the home page where he feels he belongs. For those of you who do not believe this, I have photographic proof. Immediately after he had completed his devious plot, his overblown ego got the best of him and he stopped long enough to pose for this picture in his torture chamber.

Notice the multiple torture devices at his disposal. He did manage to cleverly hide the incriminating stick of wintergreen chewing gum in his mouth when this picture was taken. We now have some insight into the fate of all those who challenge the mighty Joey. Be careful out there guys.... Photography may never be the same after this.

Although, I agree with your theory, in part; I can't help but suspect that a fog machine was also involved. Perhaps SC was simply overcome by the vapors and were influenced by a particularly persuasive wizard.

i disagree on one point: while i don't know him personally, or play someone on tv who knows him personally, i don't think that he every loses total control. rather, i think he planned this diobolical scheme quite methodically. perhaps he enlisted the support of his MIB contacts (see his "darkness" entry...it gives away his alliances...)
