I need to buy a CF card in the next week, i need it to be 512 or 1gb. Cost is definately an issue. Overseas is so much cheaper but no guarantee it will be in Oz in time, if i buy it here it is expensive.

So my question is this: Does anyone know a cheap place to buy a CF card on the net that will not take long to get to oz. Or one is Oz that they can recommend

Are you looking for a basic CF card or a high-speed one?

would you ever consider a microdrive? they're a bit unstable and drains power from your battery but I've had mine for a year and a half and it just works fine... not as fast as my Ultra Sandisk but it's still pretty good. not everyone would agree about microdrives though due to its volatility... a 2 gig card goes for $80 after rebate...

How much is the difference? By the time you factor in shipping, insurance, waiting, and general hassle, you may be better off going down to your local camera store.

If you happen to have a problem or question, you'll know where to get the answer, too. Remember that low price does not always equal good value.

Microdrives are slower than a fast CF card and they are sensitive to vibrations.
I think when CF cards with large memory was really expensive, it was a good bargain, but as camera's write speed becomes faster and as memory becomes cheaper, microdrives are becoming less attractive.

Yep. Hence mine is a backup to my Ultra :)
