need to know what i could do to improve this
used 85mm 1.8

i like this a lot... i like the way everything behind her appears blurry.. but the blurriness on top gets to be a bit much so I agree with cropping off the top a little. Otherwise, great shot!

While shooting ... I think it would have helped to walk around a bit, try to find a shooting angle that would have the TOP of her head contrasting with a slightly lighter background, such as the background that is just in front of her face.

Too late now? Well, maybe dodge the background a little so that you get some separation between her and the background.

I don't know how dark the dress really was... but if it wasn't pitch black, then maybe a little lighter exposure (or processing) to bring out some lost details might be nice (depends on what's hiding in the black).

It's overall darker than I would have gone, but it appears to be on purpose and part of your vision for the image so I wouldn't change that. Sharpness and contrasts both look really good.

So, except for those two possible improvements, I think ya did great.

thanks, yes the dress was black, i woke up at 6:30 that morning to catch the sunrise to get some pics, but it was cloudy so outside was just like a giant softbox :/ i wanted some orange light
