I don't know I just thought of him while I was workin on these in PS. Quick story about them.
I'm driving home when the mobile phone rings:
Wife: "There's a huge spider in the garage and Ty (the seven year old) killed it, I think."
ME: "Really! COOL! What's it look like?"
Wife: "It's really big and totally black."
ME: "Like a black widow?"
Wife: "I'm not sure but I'm not getting close enough to check because it's still moving!"
So I get home and sure enough it's a widow. So the first thought is, "I better take some pictures!" After taking a few shots I start looking around and found 3 more just chillin in the garage around the kids bikes / toys. So I had to dispatch them, shame they are pretty damn cool spiders. Just can't think it's a good idea to have that many in one place.
Can't say I've ever had that many around before...pretty creepy...but after all it is October!
On to the pics! Let me know what you think.

My ex likes to tell the story of the time he was doing some landscaping in CA...he stood up from doing some mulching around the edge of the house in the backyard when a widow slowly lowered itself down to about eye level. He freaked out and whacked it down with a spade, then proceeded to stomp on it. He said that stepping on it made a horrible *crunch*, as if he were crushing a small animal. *Shiver* Your photos are an excellent example of why that's as close as I ever want to be to viewing one. Good work to you and your brave son! |

Hey Corrado,
Yea, summer time we get bees and this year for some reason it's black widows. You usually run into 1 or 2 a year (at least I do) but 4 in one day is even just too much for me. The wife and I didn't sleep all that well last night if you know what I mean.

A true photographer. Take pics first - kill spider later.
about a month ago my wife let the dogs out into the backyard. She yells "Danny, Come here quick!" There was a copperhead snake on the patio. I rush in to get the camera. Photos first then deal with the snake. :-) |
