active-domain.com $US10 a year for a dot com (about as cheap as it gets
hasweb.com BEST host ever! (no i'm not afflated) for $35 a year you get 500mb storage/10gb bandwidth plus they give you what most folk charge over a hundred a year for ftp. mysql, php, perl, fantastico, shopping cart, unlimited email you name it they support it FREE. Excellent and instant tech support.

Funnily enough I bought another domain (www.samchadwickphoto.com) just today from //www.namecheap.com. I paid US$8.88 for 1 year.

I'm also looking at Webhostingbuzz who have a special on at the moment see //webhostingbuzz.com/sharedwebhostingplans.html
The mini-plan is US$36 for a year with 1.5GB space and 30GB bandwidth. No setup charge either.
I'm not affiliated to either.

If you can do without Fantastico scripts or a funky interface then you might consider Irepublics. It's based in Malaysia. You pay US$26 per year for domain name registration but you get 333MB space for free. See //www.irepublics.com/hosting/details.html

Depends how much space you need and what you want to do with it.

I use //www.canaca.com
Their bronze package is $3.95 and gives you 10,000mb of storage and 200gb of bandwidth transfer. I have been using them for a year and I am very happy with them. Customer support is good as well.

I paid a year upfront for "godaddy" and it was 87.00 for the year. That was with the domain registration and every thing. www.godaddy.com

Jodi - just noticed your comment 'from across the pond'. I used to live in the UK and so my current host is ukhost4u.
//www.ukhost4u.com/basic.html

1GB Web Space
50GB Monthly Transfer - good for people with large image files.

Basic hosting is GBP40 per year, which is not cheap, but I have found the support good. There is a telephone line if you need it, and there is the Fantastico scripts.

Hmmm that's odd. I have been using them for over two years with no problem at all. I would give them a call. Once or twice I send an e-mail with not response, and just got on the phone.
