Has anyone used one of these units? They're marketing it as a good tool for use with the S2-IS but I'm honestly not sure whether this will just be an extra $130 out of my pocket for less than stellar improvment.

I avoided using the on-board flash of my S1-IS because of the nasty shadowing, in theory this would help with that but I question whether a $130 unit will do much good when the rest of Canon's line-up is $300 and up.

I would not be using it attached to the camera, I am thinking more as an independant light source to help out soften out the image (mounting it on a tripod 45degrees off the shooting angle).

Your thoughts and opinions would be appreciated.

And here is a pretty good review of it: //www.epinions.com/content_193570508420

CDN funds, plus shipping... unfortunately it isn't too much cheaper.

Thanks for the review. If anyone else has experienced this beast, I'd appreciate your opinions.
