rwx permissions means read, write, execute (respectively). I suspect that what you need to do is change the setting on the folder so that anyone (ie the webserver process) can write files to those folders. I /think/ this is done somewhere within the IIS settings (presuming you're using that not apache), but I can't say where.

In that case, the folders need to have been created by the user that apache runs as. That should do it...

...just a word of warning...
the last time I tried to play with the rwx settings on my Windows 2000 machine running Apache, I ended up locking myself out of my own system for a while. Granted, I am of amature status when it comes to severs, but make sure you keep track of what you are doing to make reversal a more systematic process instead of the guess and check method I was left with :)

wouldn't that still leave the task of setting permissions for the site users, the owner ie: the apache admin, would have full permissions, but that isn't what you want for everyone.

right click your webfolder, properties, security, give the wanted access to your inet account.

Ahhhhhhh. I was having a perfectly good Sunday morning and you had to go and stir up the trauma of trying to get my photoblog on line. There I was with my summer beach reading 'Unix Plain and Simple' ... it was an ugly time. Good Luck ... I think I have to go back to bed now.

Look, you have to come to terms with the idea that windows != security. There is simply no reliable way of getting a windows box, even a self-professed server (ha!) to reliably instate a permissions system. Windows does not know a file system that even handles permissions properly at all. Even nfts is a joke, it's either everyone can read and write or people can only read. Running apache on windows is like running a V12 petrol racing engine on home-brewed diesel. Alright, so i'm having a bit of a rant, but my point is you can't expect it to work AND be secure. At best you can give the apache business full perms to run rampant all over your computer, and hope that nobody finds an sql injection bug in one of your scripts.
