It would probably be illegal to clone out the whole jackstands.
If you did a little planning before hand you may be able to do it legally. If you had a black background you can simply cover up the the jackstand with black cloth and had a bit of light reflecting you can probably clone (advance)that out.
Some of the ribbon winning pictures were probably really time consuming setups.

Blemt responded to you almost immediately in the other thread.

In a case like this, err on the side of caution. Major Elements by it's nature is not a hard and fast rule. We have to look at each shot on a case by case basis and make a determination. Without having an example shot to look at, it's a bit hard.
Your goal is to minimize the amount of cloning that you do. The more pixels you move/remove the greater the odds are that we are going to say "Major Elements". |
Chances are, if you're cloning out obvious, bulky items supporting a car that would otherwise be "floating," that'll be a major element, particularly if a floating car is the concept. Email it (or a link to the photo in your workshop) to a few SC if you want to be sure. |

Did you send emails to the SC? Cause I didn't get one. Generally if you have photo questions, you shouldn't contact d and l, since they aren't usually around much. Anyway, it just depends on the difference between the start and finish photo. I'm going to work now, so you wont get a response if you send the photos to me, but try to send a few SC members an email with links to the before and afters. You can try the ones in the 'who's online' section to try to get a quicker response if you want.

It sounds like a borderline case where some will feel it's a major element, and some will not. When in doubt...don't do it. |

I got your file you sent me. Without the other photo to compare it to, and without any details on the editing steps you took, I cannot offer my opinion on weather or not it's legal. Also, as a response to the SC not responding within the hour, even if it says someone is online, they may be away from their computer, or even if they are on DPC, they may not check their email every 10 minutes. I know some people with dsl or cable modem, who are always online, will show that they are on even when they are away.
Just wanted to let you know, so you don't think we're ignoring you. |
