Does anyone else use Corel PhotoPaint - or can anyone from SC tell me if this filer is legal in basic editing. Here's the description from the Corel Help File:

Histogram equalization
The Histogram equalization filter lets you view the tonal range of an image and redistribute the balance of shadows, midtones, and highlights in the composite channel or in individual color channels according to a preset histogram model.

Thanks for any assistance with this question. M

Sounds like levels in Photoshop, so it looks like it's legal as long as you don't select a particular area to apply. If used on the image as a whole it should be legal.

That's a perfect description of what "levels" does in photoshop, yup. I have used photopaint myself, and I think they are exactly the same thing (levels and histogram equalization) so I'm sure it's legal.

hey thanks Welland & Robert. I've been trying following along on the PS Basics workshop Robert that's a great class you put together - I just have been using Corel for so long I keep going back to it. Old habits and all.

The principles I am discussing there apply to any editing program. You just need to find the equivalent tools in your program. My tutorila is about workflow, primarily...

Yup, as said before, as long as it's applied to the whole image, that should be fine in Basic.
