My favs have been cleared, thank you very much to the admin for that.

Add me back if you want, sorry for all the adding & removing lately.

The former integrity of the site has officially been restored.

Everyone who quit may now return.

Thanks for playing!

No, I am sorry, The former integrity of the site has been damaged for good.
My reasons for still staying around are none of anyone's business at the moment, but I have no faith in the people of this site any more.
I keep my loyalties to the veyr few people I respect, and I am sorry Strikeslip - you are not one of them and will never be.
I have no faith or respect to you or your lovely fans when it comes to professional opinions.
Your comments have no meaning to me, and I do not participate in any of the challenges any more, for your voting means even less then that.

You have completely ruined something beautiful that was here.
I hope you are proud of yourself.

Uh Oh, I though this would be the end. Excuse me while I run for the bomb-shelter, hopefully it's well-stocked with supplies!

kabooom!

Attention, attention, I regret to announce that slippy didnt make it to the bomb shelter. He was hit by flying hand grenade thrown by jinjit. His condition remains uncertain.
Thanks for the brief interruption, you may now return to whatever you were doing before hand.

I don't blame Slippy for the problems at this site. It lost its' integrity a long time ago when groups of participants started pooling their votes so friends could earn ribbons. But to suggest something like this here is taboo and is seen as paronoid or whinning. At least Slippy was honest in what he was doing; he outlined exactly what his goal was and how planned to attain it.

Quoted from his Phase 1 thread:

No where did he mention that all would be taken off in Phase 2 so how was he honest?

Jinjit. I just thought I'd throw this out as I began reading this little madcap adventure of Slippy's, but as the end was too predictable, I stopped reading after the third post.

Please don't forget that as DPC is a world in itself, SlipStrike's thread was also a world unto it's own. Only a handful of people actually paid any heed to what was going on there.

He may have ruined something in a small way, but I assure you it was just a small way. I don't know how many votes for favorite he generated in the end, but he already had a few before his silly idea, so it can't really be a huge percentage of the people who visit this site and contribute.

If you feel you don't want to participate in a part of the site because of Slippy's influence, ignore the fluff that consists of much of the forum posts.

As a voter and a submitter and as best I can - a commenter (albeit somewhat occasionally), I really hope that you keep using this site for what it has always been meant for: Building Creative Expressions.

That is what the challenges are for. They aren't really about the votes or who votes on them. They are about using a community to put positive energy in the photographic efforts of as many people as possible.

If you can see past that thread and the actions of a handful of members, there is still plenty here that you can do to benefit yourself and others.

As someone completely unassociated with the thread in any other way than a quick peek, I urge you to move on and keep your focus on what is really important.

I wonder if they had an "un-favorite" category, how many you'd get in there? lol ;-) -luv ya Slippy!

Whoops, hey, phases two etc were a reaction to people threatening to quit & getting all upset. I didn't think the stat was so important to some people. I expected, naturally, to be removed from favs after Oct 8, and drop quickly from 'the list' after getting my screenshot. But all the arguing made me feel guilty, and I fealt bad after finding out how important the stat is to some people, which I can't understand, but I accept. I don't expect to understand everything about everybody, but I can accept it. I ws most turned off by setzler's reaction, as I think he's a saint for all the help he gives. I couldn't let it go on until Oct 8, so I called it quits.

Lesson learned.

Is that true???

Wow, that just broke my heart a little. I don't have time to be part of the social parts of this site. Guess I shouldn't really bother?

SLIPPY HAS COMPLETELY RUINED MY LIFE...

I met my Slippy on the internet through a photography site. We eventually moved to the forums, and then began to PM. Within 6 months he asked me to favorite him. I bought a lens cap on the promise and hope of payment for my “services”. My Slippy was charming, extremely clever and I thought he had the world in his hands.

I have now found out that the man is a complete con man! He has gradually spent all my dignity and self-worth. I have also invested my favoritie photos list for him to become recognized on the photography site. I now find that he has not just one lady in tow but dozens! My self-esteem has dwindled to zero. Other members say that he should have been thrown out for his unpaid debts to the site and for damage to its integrity. So many ladies and gentlemen have been hookwinked by this man! How is it that he can get away with it? I live in a state of confusion. I stand to lose all credibility for the favorites that I have worked hard to select and nurture.

Please beware of men like Slippy who you meet on this internet site.
This man has completely ruined my life!

Love you Slippy!

Even IF its true, such pooling of votes cannot sway the results more than just a very little. There is no conspiracy here, no lost integrity and no dashed innocence. Slippy was fooling around and some people got upset so he stopped fooling around and said sorry. I think that jinjit's post was very disappointing and its attitudes such as those that make this site lose its integrity. Each one of us is entitled to our thoughts and feelings but to focus the "demise" of this site on one guy and a harmless little stunt that has already been put back right, its uncalled for and it makes my heart break.

We'll never know for sure. Sorry, it is merely conjecture on my part. But when you see some inferior images getting really high scores and they're from a specific geographic region, it makes you wonder if there isn't some sort of collusion.

To which "specific geographic region" are you referring?
