How do I get gimp? Could someone hook me up with the link. Mac prefered but the page will do fine.

I went to their site and couldn't figure out what link was what.

Thanks,
Steve

now, how do I install it after the download?

I'm new to mac and I'm looking for an exe. type of extention but do see it.

Sorry for being lame but macs don't make 100% sense to me yet. Thanks again.

Hi Pawdrix
For running the gimp you need to install a version of x11 - easy to find
there are no .exe files on the mac (visible ones at least) - simply double click the tar, it should expand (with stuffit) directly to the desktop. The gimp needs to be compiled out of MacOS in the linux environment I think.

//www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/22990 I am not sure whether that makes the install easier or not but I always check versiontracker first because it usually has the latest mac specific installs.

//www.gimp.org/macintosh/ has the official info about the various MacOSX builds of GIMP, so is probably the best place to start :o)

Thanx-Don, Pauline and Matt

I tried to dowload x11 and my computer says that I already have a newer and better version. The Gimp is/was on my desktop which I unzipped and saw lots of files. I clicked on each one and nothing opened or downloaded as an "app." (exe.)file or looked anything like an application file.

OR I got a message that said "with which application would you like to open this file." So I assume that these weren't the program applications files because they would/should just start installing when prompted.

DARE I SAY...Windows executes this process in an easier more straightforward manner? Bite my tongue.

The simple way with a mac is
If you have OS 10.4.x and X11 installed (on OS setup disc 3)
Download The Gimp direct from the apple site, and drag it into the folder you want it in.
the gimp
Drag a picture file onto the gimp icon - job done it opens - no fuss - no worry
Earlier versions of OS make unix knowledge highly desirable!
