I was without a computer for a week so I never did get to catch up on replies to my other thread. I'm still shopping and looked at a couple at Best Buy when we dropped our computer off. They have a couple that are within my price range and there is one that is out of box so it is discounted. I'm not sure what to look for though. I'm guessing optical zoom is important- is that more important than mp's. The camera I'm looking at is this one:

Anyone have this one? Because it's at out BestBuy for 299 right now since it's the demo one on the counter. I'm not sure how I feel about getting a camera that isn't in a box, but I suppose we could have it checked out before buying.
Not sure how much I can get for my p&s either. We paid over 350 for it with the extra memory card. I'd be able to take that memory card and put it in another camera.
Anyhow, thanks for any help or advice you may be able to give me. |

just me but I would NEVER buy a camera out of the box unless it had full warranty on it.
I hear the kodak easyshares are easy to use and 5mp is probably way more than you'll need and 12x zoom...wow. HAve you looked at some of the reviews for it here: //www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Kodak/ I also usually look at sites like amazon and read the customers comments about the camera to see what they liked and hated.
Good luck

I was thinking that was plenty of mp's. The p&s I have now is 4.1 and it's perfect for me. I just want something with more zoom. That's my main complaint lol. So if it came with the full warranty would you buy it?
And how much should I sell me p&s for? It's a kodak easyshare LS748. 4.1mp and 2.8 optical zoom. It's a great little camera for general picture taking and some closeups, but I'm getting into more then it can do now lol. |

Ditto on the stay away from the demo model. How many people and kids have mashed those buttons and banged it around while it was on display. It's not woth the extra few $$$ they knock off the price.
Also, I'd buy it on-line as most stores can't compete with on-line prices, even with shipping.

I bought an ex-display 300D from Jessops UK, the biggest high street camera chain, it was the only one they had left in stock. Within a week the mirror and screen had come adrift, luckily they got another one in for the next weekend.
Just a tip, buy new in the box, unopened. At least you have a head start then.

Thank you for the advice. I won't be getting the one out of box. Going to try and sell my p&s on ebay or somewhere and just put that towards it.
And yes, I see that prices online are cheaper then buying in store so I suppose I will go that route.
Thank you for the help! |
