Well maybe not just spotted.
Had the pleasure of spending the afternon with Skip & his wife Nina
yesterday. I gotta' say, Skip is as much a nut in person as he is here.
Met up with them in Oceanside, hung around there for a while, then headed South to Torrey Pines Gliderport
(via one exit too far and back-tracked through USCD - I knew where I was going - uh huh - I did really )
enjoyed the sunset from the cliffs, then made our way South through Ocean Beach and Pacific Beach.
A few shots from the day
in this GTG folder:
(P&S ^ in Skip's hands)
Was a blast Skip!
"Knock Knock"
"Who's there?"
"Land Shark"

If Skip ever wants to make it to the next level, he needs to consider rhinoplasty... That honker is definitely in the way...

What? No shots of him laying on the ground?!? That's all I saw him do while hanging out at the DC GTG. :-) Sounds like you guys had a great day. Makes me long to be back in San Diego... until I think about the cost of living there and then I snap back to reality!! :-)
Love the photos Brad. Torrey Pines was always one of my favorite beaches to hang at while growing up. And I can't tell you how many nights were spent down in PB. Good times, good times indeed. Thanks for sharing. :-)

hats off to you, brad! ni and i had a blast hanging with you and dawn yesterday afternoon!
and i would say brad's every bit as gracious in person as he is here. i haven't had a chance to work through all i shot while out in SD, but i'd say his fingerprints--both from his where-to-go tips and some of the inspiring works in his portfolio--are all over the images i captured last week.
i just hope brad can do something about that bump on his nose...
note to shannon: you don't want to know what brad's using as an interior light for that car...

fortunately, i can prove my whereabouts...
ken, this sign is at the edge of a cliff, about a 200' walk past a guardrail that says 'do not cross'. like you're going to pay attention to one sign if you ignore the other ;-) |

Well I originally thought the picture on the sign should be changed, but now I think the words on the sign should be changed to match the picture...

OK Skip, you just had to go and spoil me didn't you.
I took a look at one of the test shots I did with your 70-200mm f/2.8L IS,
then did a 100% crop of a section of it just for shits & giggles.
Holy Crap!
I gotta' have me one of those! |

Oh, man... Brad changed the sign! Fortunately, I have a record shot of what it USED to say:
Skip, you're lucky to be alive! |

imagine trakking that thing 70+ on the interstate, chasing a sunset. all of a sudden, nina exclaims, 'what the hell is going on up there?!?!'... i look up, and it looks like fireworks are going off in the car. turns out it was just brad, poppin the strobe, looking for the lid to his coffee mug ;-) |

Brad thought this sign might have been tampered with, too, but it seems accurate to me. ;-)

whoa...on a more serious note...Watching the news this morning they picked the body of an older man off the beach yesterday afternoon from very near to this spot. Aparently he got a little close to edge and fell to his untimely dimise. He had a full bag of camera equipment. Just be careful when faced these kinds of warnings.
But to our regularly scheduled thread...

It's a conspiricy I tell ya... I seen it last night and this morning on Fox6 here in San Diego ... and I can't find anything on it either... wait this just in (the wife found it) I am not going crazy...
//www.nbcsandiego.com/news/5029082/detail.html
not a lot here, but the Fox6 clips were taken from right about where you were standing. They had a lot more info (52 year old male etc...)
Maybe they haven't been able to notify Next of Kin, and need to keep it under wraps til then.
