Two bothersome things have been happening with Photoshop CS lately. First a while back I had to verify my submission, and this requires listing the editing steps. So I open the PSD file created from the original and went to file info – history. There was no information listed. I swear that although I seldom look here its been there before. I open other files and that info is not there either. What gives?
Second when the rule of third challenge was announced I created a new image graphically show the rule of thirds. I turned on the grid to help draw the vertical & horizonal lines. Now every image that open has the grid overlaid on it. It only takes a keyboard shortcut to get rid of it, but it̢۪s quite annoying. I can̢۪t seem to find a way to turn this off.
Think my CS is buggy and needs to be reinstalled? Or do I just don̢۪t know what I̢۪m doing with these seldom-used tools/features? Help.

With regard to the history, that information is not saved with the PSD file; it would make the file unmanageably huge.
With regard to the grid, you will need to turn it off in preferences; I used it only once before and don't recall the exact procedure.
Edit: The grid option is under View>Show, however the keyboard shrotcut (ctrl+') shold do the same thing. Under CS2, turning it on or off using the shortcut is "sticky." The settings (and the shortccut) are the same for CS and CS2.

Thanks I figured out the grid issue. I was turning the grid off when I opened an image by the Open Apple + H which turns off the "extras" instead of the Open Apple + '. And when I opened a new image the grid was still turned on.
I did some experimenting with the history and Kirbic is right the info is not saved. I just assumed with PSD files that it would. On important images I guess I could cut & paste into a text file before saving if I need the info.
Thanks again for the reponses. |
