Yeah, thats right, I can admit it! I am definitely a novice at Photoshop, but mainly because I haven't tried hard to get past the basics, I plan to though.
In the mean time, can someone tell me how to turn a photo from color to black and white without it looking all dull and kind of grayish? I don't know if that makes sense, but somtimes I try to desat and they just look dull, no crisp black and white. Even on well focused images.
I use version 7.
I've had a couple turn out decent but not sure what I did differently on those, its been awhile.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Unless, its just "Hey, you suck at Photoshop". I already know that. :)

use the channel mixer.
set it to mono output and then adjust the sliders. |

I used to have a link to a really great action plugin, but the link doesn't work anymore..
I do still have a .zip file of it on my pc, if you'd like to try it, pm me ;) |

| Yeah, I downloaded an "ansel adams photoshop action" that someone posted here when we had the ansel adams challenge. I found it really handy, as it splits the image up into about 8 layers with different colour filters used to make it B+W, then you can combine them as you see fit. I'd had a quick search but I cant find it! I hope someelse will know what I'm banging on about. |

| I think that's the one I meant cheeky, but I'm not sure. There's also a filter to add b&w and very neat contrast to your pic. |

| There is a great tutorial here that gives you way more control than your basic conversion to greyscale :0) |
