Would someone what to help me design a business card? I am starting to get more and more photography jobs, which really surprises me since I think that I am just ok. But anyway, I need a business card to give people and a cd label design too. I want something kind of plain but very impressive. I need help. I do mostly portraits, but I want to start trying to do some freelance after I get my 20D.

If you can edit pictures, you can make a businesscard. What kinda help do you need?

Simple and effective. On pearl or off-white card stock

Forgive the compression artifacts...

oh I love both of those!! I read once that you shouldn't put a picture of yourself on your business card. Is that true? The reason I asked for help is because I don't know if I should include a picture or not. I don't know which one to choose if I do use a picture. I just want something that looks really good.

You're one cute chica, why don't you just put a portrait of yourself on the card :D

The only reason I would say not to use your self on a BC is because some people may think that someone else took the picture for you. Just my opinion.

Do you have any more landscape base shots you can upload? Also when you get them printed, I would reccomend overnightprints.com DL there photoshop template and away you go. Then upload it within a week you will have your BC I think they are only $40 for 1000 of them. But make sure the card is perfect before you order, it would suck to have 1000 cards you dont want to use. I will help you ge the one you like. If you pick out the picture you want to use, and let me know I will lend you a helping Keyboard. :D)

That's probably true for the REST of us. I think you could get away with it! :-)

thank you Travis! you are awesome! I really like this one, but I am afraid that it doesn't appeal to the masses and my hurt me in the long run.

Would this one be better to use?

If I do use a self portrait, which one should I use?

Every real estate agent has their photo on their card. Every. Self promotion.

My opinion: I respectfully disagree. You're going to be giving these cards to people, they'll ask who took the photo or you can tell them. If they don't ask and they go home and the discussion at home goes to "Let's get who took her photo", they'll call you, ask who took it, problem solved. I see how people would wonder, but that only get's them to ask you who took that wonderful photo.

Plus you're mildly photogenic :)

Edit to add:
I'm not saying definitely put your photo on, just that I don't find it a bad thing. I would recommend finding your most mass-appeal photo and use that.

For just this reason, I always suggest that you first print up just a few yourself. If you are making a photographic card, just get cheap 4x6 prints made -- you can fit 3 standard-sized business cards on each -- and hand cut them. This also lets you try out different layouts or photos. Once they are "perfect" you can get a regular print order done. Note that regular printed cards can have a color shift from photographic cards, due to the difference in printing processes.

Do you have a higher res version of the picture you use for your profile?

Hey Mandy, I,m working on your BC now. Would you like to do anything else besides freelance and portraits, like weddings, nature, stock? Is there anything in particular you would like on you card?

You're pretty good at this!

I actually prefer the first one you did as the overall tone of the card is brighter, but both are very captivating.

I liked alfresco's too ... probably because it had Mandy's picture on it. Are there any of her that you could work with?
