There are so many good things about DPC, not the least of which is the community of its members. I never cease to be amazed and impressed by the dedicated membership who freely and unselfishly give of their time, expertise, opinion, and support, in all matters of photography and life in general. We all know people on this site that have given greatly and unconditionally so that all may benefit. Why not acknowledge their good work and deeds with annual awards that the members vote on?
I am proposing two different annual awards at this time, but this list can certainly grow as other categories are recognized as being needed:
1) The DPC Member of the Year award
2) The DPC Photographer of the Year award
The photographer of the year award does not have to go to a photographer just for their challenge submissions, but for excellence in their work in general to their portfolios or web sites, for example.
Perhaps a ten day period at the start of the new year for submission of nominations to the different categories of awards, followed by a ten day period of voting to coincide with the "Best of 200_" challenge would be a way to implement this.
Any thoughts? |

| Personally, I'm against it. I think that many here at the DPC are too obsessed with competition (scores) as it is. Art is too subjective. Just my opinion. |
