On another thread regarding back-up I mentioned that my external hard drive is currently inaccessible and possibly have some physical problem. The original of my Destination entry is on that drive and it doesn't look like I could recover it to submit in time if the original file is requested for validation. It probably won't ribbon but it's at 6.6825 with 18 comments and 2 favorites.

I guess if I place below 5th then there wouldn't be a need for my original and keep the score. Well I will wait till the challenge is over tonight, it could still plummet down to 6.

Losing data is definitely more upsetting than a ribbon so I'm hoping to recover all my 250 GB files.

Try to recover it from the CF card again with some data recovering software? Perhaps the original data is not yet overwritten.

I use Sandisk Extreme and it comes with a tiny cd recovery software. But I always format as soon as I transfer the files onto my hd and used the card after. I don't think they will still be there.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

have you tried the program getdataback? you can download the trial from www.runtime.org that will show you what you can recover but you have to buy a reg key to recover. Ive had pretty good success with that sw, so maybe its worth a try better than being disqualified and losing all that data.

I'm using Easy Recovery Lite, the paid version. It does the same thing as getdataback... but it can only recover 25 files each scan. It's a 500GB hd and takes about 4 hours to do one scan. So far, I've only done one scan and able to recover 25 files.

I thought I selected the one for my entry but it wasn't the one. I'm on my 2nd scan.

How does getdataback work exactly?

Edit: I've located my original CRW as of 4:45pm. Now if only the score would hold up. :o)
