I bought his book for PS CS2 a couple of days ago.
It's great.
I think you do need to know some basics, but the steps that he uses describes everything.
I started off with PS7 for dummies.
That helped me a lot.
Look where I am now!!!!!
Actually I'm in the same place as I was before.
Same boring job.
Same friends.
blah blah blah.

Which version do you have?
If you have two you can buy, "The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements 2" by Richard Lynch.
It has a CD that comes with it that you can install the 'hidden tools' which gives you access to use curves like in regular photoshop.(which is not available in PSE normally). I picked up the book used on Amazone for like $5.

I second the recommendation for Scott Kelby's books. I think he has one called "Photoshop Elements for Digital Photographers" that is outstanding. Project based, step-by-step instructions. Great teaching methods and funny too.

any book by scott kelby would be ideal. He is the editor of several ps mags as well as authoring how-to books on every ps version out there. I have his latest os cs2 book & I love it.
edit: I just read who others posted... I'm slow.
