Hi. Just thought I would post what got me REALLY excited today.

Noting that many cameras these days are making a shift to SD cards, I thought it would be good to let people know that don't already know...

4GB 150X HIGH SPEED SD CARDS ARE ON THE MOVE!

and appear to be cheaper than 2 2GB cards.

I was quoted 4600NT$ ($144US) for a 2GB Transcend 150x. 6000NT$ ($188US)for a Samsung brand. 8000NT$ ($250) for a 4GB 150x Transcend. Almost bought one on the spot!

4GB and 8GB CF cards are also due to come out soon in 130X-150X speeds, although I don't have prices yet. 4GB 80X cards are commonplace. 12GB cards are available too, but are REALLY pricey... for now.

I'd like to see anyone get their hands on a 4GB 150x Sony card! Sorry about the gripe, been trying to find info on Sony cards this week for a friend who has little financial means and technical inclination. Sony's policies on Data cards is atrocious, laughable or just plain evil.

I have recently received information that Transcend Data cards tend to be a hair slower than their competitors in the same speed rating. This is not due to product quality most likely, but rather inaccurate reporting of testing done. The cards themselves work quite well. Most people I know either use Ridata/Ritek or Transcend.

A friend of mine who shoots two pentax *ist's with russian lenses uses Incredibles brand SD cards.

Literature suggests that an X=150Kbps. (not to be confused with KBs). Most cards have slightly different speeds for reading and writing.

150X therefore = 22.5mbps = a little under 3MB/s

This speed indicates the speed at which a camera should be able to clear it's buffer, not the actual speed of use of a camera.
