I was 5.5 earlier today. I've got that Titanic feeling.

NO
Your score is too high.
This is (assuming so anyway) a sub-5 outing.

I'm also new here, first challenge I've entered. I'm sitting on 4.9 something with 4 comments. This doesn't seem too good. Never mind. Can someone tell me how often the stats are updated?
09/22/2005 02:50:24 AM · #106
for us who aren't paid members, it's updated every hour.

Right now, I'm sitting at 4.77... and sloooowly rising. :)

Thanks :)

OK, I definitely made the wrong choice of photo for submission. My first challenge dilemma and looks like I better not hold my breath. From 6.66 to 5.18 and 1 miserable comment (a spot-on comment that I had to agree with) out of 99 views. I'm also getting unhealthily hooked on DPC - gotta get myself back a life. *sigh*

No kidding. Awesome stuff.

I too have been trying to get my overall average above 6.0. It's not easy, but I'm still a happy camper even if I can't quite seem to get there. I must have B+ stamped on my ass or something. LOL!

Normally I just lurk around the forums but figured I'd jump in with a question: do paid members see a brake down of their score, i.e. how many 3's, how may 4's, 5's, etc. during voting, or is it just an average score like the non-members?

I've been watching my score drop steadily from a 5.4 down to a 4.6 since yesterday, with only one comment. It would really be nice if the ones voting it down would leave some kind of comment about what they didn't like and give me an opportunity to improve in those areas. Guess this kind turned from a question into a rant. Sorry :-)

When I went to bed I was over a 6, now I'm at 5.8. Lots of comments that the image is too dark, which meens people must not be calibrating there monitors...or they think an image should always be sunny and bright! sigh...I think it will pretty funny if it get votes below a 4.

Over 105 votes and not a single comment!

Sitting on 5.1 - thought this was a good one but don't know now!

I know it's right on the thirds and it's a sweet pic, in focus, sharp so please people tell me what is wrong with it to only be struggling to stay in 5 range!

Hopefully comments will come later as voters return to comment after puitting in their votes.

Quick question, because I've received so many comments regarding this....when doing a portrait in "rule of thirds" what should be at the interesecting lines?
09/22/2005 02:16:28 PM · #124
thought I had a good one too, although I rebounded from 4.7 to 5 today. i swear since I started entering open challenges, my scores are sucking...

but at least 2 people have bothered to comment.

I don't think that it is anything personal related to the picture why people aren't commenting, rather the fact that there are currently 4 challenges to vote on right now. It kind of makes it hard to comment on pictures that way.

As for placement of the thirds I don't think it needs to be exact. I did mine based on a "weighted average" of the focal point being at an intersection hopeing the people would not be too picky and I am sitting at a 6.2

For me as long as it's not centered and it is at least close to following the rule than it fits the challenge.
