Hey DPC crew,
I was hoping to get some thoughts from other folks about how I could have made this image better for the color portrait challenge. Some people mentioned that they felt it didn't meet the challenge b/c it was more of a candid. I hadn't realized that portraits must always be somewhat posed, but maybe that's not the case but just the preferred method. Any suggestions on how I could have used photoshop to make this better?

Well, unschooled opinion...
I think portrait usually implies that the subject is facing the camera, or is posed in such a manner to let the viewer know that the subject is aware of you looking at them. It's more intimate and engaging.
This looks like a candid because it seems that this guy is oblivious to you taking the shot. He should at least be standing still.
If it's gointg to be a candid, it would be nice to know what he is doing with that stick....
