I am HORRIBLE at picking from amongst my shots when entering a photo in a contest. I will literally sit and stare at the shots for hours trying to decide. Whichever I pick usually ends up being the wrong one (i.e. the comments reveal that a different shot would probably have done better). I've tried asking my friends, but none are photography people and they look for the wrong things in a photo (e.g. "Why isn't the subject centered? I think it would do better if the subject was centered.") I've tried everything, including the suggestion someone gave to sit back and squint at the photos to see which has the best form. What do I do???

The same thing I'm going to do. Close my eyes, press submit, and go get a Guinness.

Right now I'm trying to decide between one I know will do well but is cute to the point of nausea and another I really like but, based on previous experiments that I've liked, won't do well in voting.

Arrgh...

just enter the one you are most proud of. regardless if you think it might not 'score' well.

if you're only shooting to win ribbons, you're possibly not satisfying yourself in the process.

that being said, I'd be lying if I said I didn't want a ribbon someday... but I'd like to do it with a photo that I personally like too.

True, and that's what I just did.

Here's the other I was considering:

Makes you want to reach for some insulin, huh?
