Ok, I have been thinking of getting a 1.4x teleconverter for my 350D XT. What do you all suggest? I will be using a tamron 70-300mm f/4 lens...What do you all suggest for a teleconverter for me?

Kenko Teleplus Pro 300 DG x1.4 I got mine for 149.00 new off ebay.

or (they are the same convertor)

Tamron x1.4 SP Pro

nice and sharp, way less than the canon and you don't have the protruding element that limits the canon converters to certain lenses.

I use this with my 70-200mm 4L and I slap 50mm 1.8 MKII on it for some super close-ups.

Isn't that for an Oly E-10 or E-20?

So how big is the quality difference between a 1.4 and a 2? Any brand.

My canon 1.4xII just came in today and the test pictures seem pretty promising (use with long canon L's only though).

its adaptable with all via step up/down rings, 62mm threaded, i use step down ring for my cam (sony), fits the E-10 with no ring, not sure of lens size of E-20

I've seen some comparisons which I will try to locate...

but first our lenses have to be able to handle a 2x which adds a whole 2 stops. A f/2.8 becomes f/5.6 and most of the lenses I tried started hunting to AF at f/5.6 and quit trying at f/6.3 becoming total manual focus. So I went with the x1.4 that only adds a stop and and my 2.8 and 4L work fine.
