Trying to get my submission for rule of thirds down to 150K and it doesn't seem to want to get there. I'm working in Elements 2 and have done the 640 pixels and save for web and it still registers at about 195K.
Any suggestions? |

You should be able to change the compression. I tried to run my Elements 2 program to tell you the exact terminology they use in the dialog, but the stupid thing claims it can't run because of a hardware or system error (I haven't used it in a while because I have Photoshop CS). It's probably complaining about a shared DLL in reality, but imagine claiming it to be a hardware or system error. Sheesh.
So in other words, look for a setting to change the quality/compression.

In Elements 2 I just do save as, set the type to JPEG, and a dialog box shows up asking me for JPEG quality on a scale of 1 to 10. Just reduce that quality to the highest one that fits in 150k. |

move the little slider up in the top right corner on save for web that says Quality and change the number in small increments until you get something close to 150K. You have to click outside the slider area to get it to update the new setting. At least that is how I do it in PSE3.

THanks for the help, I was saving initially at a too high JPEG. Lowering it did the trick. |
