Using any graphics without permission is not cool.
Glad it's an extension in Firefox though.

This one is above and beyond my favorite rant killer.

Why don't you read the small print at the bottom of the page you linked to... which I quoted. It doesn't matter what I say, but you are opening yourself and D&L up to a potential law suit. It's unlikely but also unethical. |

Since some of the smileys that are used in this thread are from deviant art, the members of DPC should remove them from their posting or contact the owner of the smiley to see if it is ok to use. I have to agree that we all do work to keep our photos from being used, and since the smileys there are copywritten... we should stand up for them!
Originally posted by BobsterLobster: They're very cool, but from the bottom of the first link...
'NOTE: Emoticons found at or in use by deviantART are not freely available for use by other websites. If you would like to use these emoticons or any of the others found at deviantART, you must contact the creator of each emoticon desired to obtain permission for use. Failure to obtain permission for off-site use of these emoticons represents a cause of legal action against you for each of the artists whose copyrights have been infringed upon.'
Because this thread encourages copyright infringement (a topic we're quick to respond to when we see our photos used without permission!), I'd suggest this thread be deleted. |

OK I am on a mac and it works for those who posted earlier and can not get it to work or dont know how its pretty simple, just hold control and click the mouse on one of those smiley images that u like which was on //comments.deviantart.com/emoticons?order=alpha from there just click "open image in new window" (or in firefox click "copy image location") now you see the website address for it than just copy it and comeback here and click the insert image button and paste what you copied

I stated that it is not liked in my original post. I no longer use the ones from deviant art because of the extension in Firefox. |
Huh? Your link is still there. |

Is this just a jab at me because you still have ill feelings toward me for no reason? Or do you really feel this way? |
What did I miss here? Where is the jab? Nobody is saying you had bad intentions. It looks like you overlooked the fact that these emoticons are on a page that says using them without permission is illegal. They're now all over this thread and it was suggested that people remove them. |

I took it away just for you.........if you WILL read my whole post you will see that I stated that D&L or SC can delete the thread and I will not be pissed. That was in there before I edited it? |
You seem very defensive about this issue. I'm not attacking you. I'm pointing out that using the icons in this thread is illegal. Why are you taking it personally? I couldn't care less what people did here, I just thought the SC might appreciate some warning though. |

Since there is a problem with deviantart regarding copying, is there another site that can be downloaded without this problem or getting pop up ads?
I located smiliescentral which seemed to be free of problems but I couldn't use them from the mac. 0ight this be an answer?

Seriously, forget I spoke.
What the hell is up with me in the last week, what do I have a sign that says 'come on, have an attitude with me' on my forehead? |

linking to images from other sites without permission is a no-no.
however, there are a LOT of sites out there that offer "free smilies" and the like. if you have a personal website, you can download those to your own webspace and link to those in the forums. then the only bandwidth you're stealing is your own.
i don't think a set of internal smilies for us to use is a bad idea, and i will bring it up to D&L.
but then, you could always go old skool and use text-based smilies all you want.
