%$&*@#*@!!!!!!!

After working for 2 hours on getting a good shot for the Bubbles Challenge I was getting ready to send in my entry.

Damn problem is that my camera registered the date that the photo was taken on Nov. 16, 2005!!! Two months into the future from the current date!!!!

---I set the date for the camera to show the current date 4 days ago.
---The battery is not the problem. It is fully charged.
---The battery remained in the camera the whole time. So the problem of the current date being wiped because of the battery not being in there is not the problem.

My camera is an Olympus C8080 8 megapixel camera. It is less than 1 year old and I am the original owner - so this in not second hand or refurbished.

Can anyone tell me if they have had the same problems and aside from checking to make sure the date is correct every darn time I take a shot is there a solution as to why the camera sporadically changes the date??????

Dammit 2 hours of work to enter the challenge basically flushed down the toilet.....and it not like this was an easy shot to accomplish given that bubbles and live insects do not sit still....

Many cameras use a second battery, usually very small, like a watch battery, that maintains settings like the clock. It's possible that this battery is very low or dead. Check your manual for instructions how to change it - if that's what it is.

This is how a computer works. That's why you can unplug a desktop computer, move it to another room, set it up again & carry on without having to reset your date/time/time zone settings. Makes sense to me that it would be the same for a digital camera, since they really are little computers.

Ya know that is a good idea - never thought that their might be a second battery to support that function. Will have to consult the user's manual. Thank you!

As for the shot - well I was lucky enough to capture another insect and THIS time I MADE sure the date showed today's date BEFORE I started shooting:-)
