Tonight, I was using my 580EX and the display screen began flashing on and off. The flash still worked but I couldn't get it to stop blinking.
Is this normal? is it low-battery (I swapped with two other sets that should have been charged). Did I hit a setting?

You had the diffuser panel out, with the flash not pointing forward...
It does that to warn you that your bounce flash will be pretty lame.

edit: Either that or the diffuser wasn't quite clicked back in... pg20 in the manual. :-).
