What do you do? I now try to work with Raw Shooter Essentials, and it goes like this: save RAW image from camera in folder, create adjusted TIFF files using RSE and save in new folder (preserving the RAW files) and then edit TIFF files in PS and save as JPEG. This means I have 3 copies of the image on my disk in the end. Do you keep all your RAW files? I'm just anxious (phobic) to lose info, I guess. Saving worthwile RAW files to a CD is an option maybe? And what program do you prefer, Digital Photo Professional or RSE? They both seem to have different pro's and con's. Thanks. |

why dont u just get the raw plugin for photoshop so u dont have to go through all that hassle. I would say keep your raw files for your better shots, keep all your edited versions, toss everything in between. I usualy just batch burn my raws to a cd (if im even shooting raw which isnt super often). Its good to keep your photos, but dont become a packrat with photos that arent worth it. You always have the potential to do better than what you shot before anyways. |

Thanks for your comments. My experience is that RSE is faster than PS in processing RAW images. Also the possibilities and results in RSE seem more to my liking. |

I save all my RAW files, since I may want to re-process later with different settings. I save my final work as JPG or TIFF as appropriate and keep the final image and the RAW file, but I don't keep all the intermediate files.
For images where I have done a very significant amount of work with multiple layers, liekk panoramas, I may keep the photoshop file if I feel that I may want to do additional work at a later date. I don't do this with many files, however, since it takes up a ton of space.

I usually use DPP v1.61 to convert to tiff. IMO, RSE might work a little better if I'm underexposed by a stop or more.
As far as backing up my files, I probably go to extreme. I copy the RAW files to 2 different folders. One folder is for converting to tiff and the other is a straight backup, I don't open these. If the need arises I will copy the files back to my working folder. I also backup to an external hard drive and burn to a cd the un-edited folder.
