I just picked up a Hoya 77mm ND filter for my Canon. I'm trying to figure out where it falls on their quality scale. There doesn't seem to be too many designations on the case and filter. This is what I see...

Hoya HMC filter - Multi-coated. "Extra quality" ND4
It came in a white case.

I paid $37.50...I have a feeling I got a deal, but can't confirm it.

Does anybody know Hoya's homepage where they have actual info about their products?

The main thing to know is that it's a powerful filter -- 4 stops of exposure.

You know General, I thought that too, but it's actually 2 stops. Don't ask me why they label it like that. Putting it on the camera confirms it.

ND4 is actually 2 stops.
They are labelled ND2/4/8. Haven't the foggiest why...

Edit: damn... too slow

Oh ... two stops = 1/4th the light.
