Anybody, can you help me with selective colour desaturation in GIMP? My free photoshop ran out last week and so I changed over to GIMP, but could not find this tool. Where is it?

It's not a straight forward as it is in Photoshop. The Saturation control allows you to desaturation a particular software-defined color range, but this gives you no control over what range of colors -- it's just Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Magenta, Orange (I think -- I'm not looking at it now).

If you want finer control, you should be able to select based upon a color range and save that selection into a new layer. Then you can desaturate that layer as you like.
