Got my first validation request today and giggled thinking "I followed all rules, they must love my shot". Submitted my original and explained my editing steps in proper detail immediately!. Then waited. Site down....... waited. Site back up............still waiting. THEN got the messagge!!! Totally not the one I expected "Your photo has been validated". Instead got the DQ..........was THAT moment I realized it was a basic challenge and not a member one!. I feel like a dummy! Did edit my shot with a few steps as possible, but ONE was a spot edit step. Duh! Thanks to those who voted and commented anyway. |

The good news is that while quite a few people forget which rule-set applies to the challenge they're entering, few do so more than once : ) |

Got my first request to validate today also, as you know. I just got a chance to get my original in about an hour ago. Hope I don't get a DQ, I shouldn't. |

Soooooooooo learned my lesson! That won't happen again! And sorry, can't share till challenge is over. But it was lovely and had some nice comments.
General? Can I describe it?

Sure, just don't talk about other photos which are still being voted on.
You can post it again to your portfolio, but then it will take up some of your space, and you'll end up with comments in two places, so waiting to post it may be a good idea anyway. |

Anyway, the spot-editing step was to remove a few wrinkles in the fabric that existed around her body after curves and contrast. Was thinking memeber challenge all along, so never thought a thing p'cessing steps because all were legal! (for member challenge). |

Can't wait to hear back from mine, I'm on pins and needles right now.
I took some shots of the sky today, got some brightness this time, still not like I want though. I may try some more tommorow, didn'treally have enough time today. |

Hate to throw salt into an open wound, but what was your latest score, before you got the DQ ?? |

Started with a 9, 20 votes later was a 7.5 and by time of DQ had dropped to 5.4. Thinking others spotted my error well before I did. |

I'm so sad. DQs get a huge ugly RED notice on the front page where scores should be. Its awful! I'm embarassed and don't even want to click the update button. I think I need therapy! |

HA.... I know the feeling. I got my first DQ in the illusion challenge and that big red notice glaring at you on the front page just sucks! :) |

Are all member challenges advanced editing rules, and open challenges basic editing? (That's what I'm picking up from some of these comments, unless I'm misunderstanding it) |

Yes, Jhonan, typicall it is the case that member challenges are advanced editing rules and open challenges are basic editing rules. Sometimes they throw us a curve, but not often.
I must have had 3 diff ppl ask me this week what challenge type I was submitting to and each time I answered "Its member challenge". Not one person corrected me! I'm a doof! lol |

yeah, it happens! I had the same thing happen to me with the authority challenge. It'll teach you to always double check before you edit though :-)
