Does anyone have tips on how to light a subject in order to create a nice black silhouette? |

Basically, you backlight the subject. Expose for the light and your subject should end up way underexposed. |

Yes, I have.
Sorry. I did not have enough time to complete. Now the rest...
Sunset and sunrise are the best for dark silhouettes. Just expose for the rest of the scene (not the sun, or the subject). Focus on the subject. Any other diffused light source can be made use of, but then you need better control of lighting.

GeneralE is right on. Make sure your subject is much less well illuminated than your background. If you don't get a perfect silhouette in camera, post processing a little will get you the rest of the way. |

*wip* *slash!*
Anyway. Also be careful to focus on the foreground object yet still expose on the background light. Cause if you focus on the background, the foreground image will look blurry as well as the image pretty much out of focus. I know you'll probably say that this is impossible to happen, but it has happened to me quite a few times even when there's no sun in the shot :-/
