Ever since i have aol i'm losing my isp connection frequently (yes, i will ditch aol and just look for a reliable, plain vanilla isp since i'm not interested in buddy lists and all that hoopla anyway). It happens often after i have written a lengthy post and when i want to send it to the forum i discover that, once more, aol bumped me off. Before, this was no big deal because after being reconnected all i had to do was to use the back browser and my post would come back and be ready to submit. Since the new site is running, however, my unsent post is totally gone and i need to retype it.

I try to remember to select and copy the text of a long post before I hit the submit button to avoid that retyping part. If you can remember to check your email every few minutes, or open a second browser window and refresh it, you should stay logged-in. |

Thanks very much, General. Yes, sometimes i am disciplined to copy a longish post but most of the time i plainly forget and pay the price. On the old dpc site, the back browser did the trick though.
I've never bothered with aol email etc. as i never intended to keep aol for long and the windows i open are explorer. Is that the reason i get disconnected so much? (dumb, dumb question, sorry :) I only use aol to get a connection and to read the New York Times but there i get disconnected all the time too (just when i'm in the middle of a good article and then you have to go through all those clicks to find your place again).
On an entirely different note, do you notice a lot of popup adds too that you can't close? They sit on your monitor to your great annoyance and then finally, finally, a "close this window" box will appear. These popups drive me mad. Even worse than blinking banners that wiggle :)
