As for going lighter on your pics, just so others won't say it's too dark. Don't do that. Go with what looks good to you. Overall you're the only one that you need to please.

I think most users here have their monitors calibrated. There will always be the one that says it's too dark. You can then ignore them.

I'd definitely keep an eye out on a Photoshop Workflow mentorship. I use Gimp which I'm told is very similar though not exact, so I could at least get a fairly informed idea of where to look for the option you would speak on.

On a side note, the idea of a continuing education class is a good one. I'm taking my very first photography course starting in a couple weeks and I'm rather nervous. Its for film, but I expect the information will help me with my digital attempts as well.

Next stop after that will be something on digital processing if this first one turns out to be a good experience.

Here's a link someone advised me to go to. It was very informative, although I haven't had time lately to explore it more.

Another one here who would be honoured to be apart of the basic photoshop group.

I use photoshop elements and it seems just soooo slow loading that it takes forever to accomplish anything. Does anyone else have this problem?

Thanks,
Johnny

I've been using Paint Shop Pro, but recently got PhotoShop. If there's a group learning PS, I would love to be part of it. I think I would be able to figure out most things eventually, but it would be so much easier with a bit of direction.

I see no other volunteers to mentor "Photoshop 101 ΓΆ€” the Basics"... Shall I have a crack at it? I think we can make this one an open group, probably.

Go for it. I'll certainly be following along if not actively participating.

Good choice.

Might I suggest checking first which versions people are using? Sometimes it makes a slight difference in the explanation or technique. Almost all the basics are the same though.

Lemme check this with the coordinator of mentorships, ok? Anyone remember who it was? LOL

Regarding versions, we are gonna be dealing with basics here so I think they are common to all versions, even Elements, basically.
