I will have about $2000.00 Hopefully in about a week...
My first buy is a Canon Rebel XT, a extra memory card..
My change...I need to pick a good lense and some filters..
Any suggestions..
I am looking at the Tameron and the sigma but I am not sure as to what would be good for macro, a good zoom, portraits and landscape all in one...

I'd get the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 for US$359.95, it's a good fast all-around lens.

A circular Polarizer and a Good Tripod.

I agree with the doctor. It is a very nice lens.Others on DPC like it.
I would also get the Canon 50mm Mark II for $80.00 a fine value, extra batteries and a couple of biggish cards. Fry's is selling 2GB cards for $99.00.

The new Sigma 70-300mm APO DG Macro is a cracking lens. I have had it a couple of weeks now and it really surprised me as to the quality of the photos.

Sigma 28-70 is a bit soft, but useful lens.

Sigma 28-135 is good allrounder.

Sigma 135-400 is great fun to use and with good light is sharp right thru.

I agree with them. The Tamron 28-75 is a fantastic lens. It will let you do macro, but not very close up. Maybe just flowers and such.

Still pretty good:

As for lanscape and zoom, it doesn't go very far either way.

Trust me, you'll spend all your life trying to find the perfect lens...Canon 18-400 f/2.8 L IS, about the size of a 17-40, with an option to switch to 8mm FishEye view at the flip of a switch. I heard Canon is working on one. In the mean time, you'll probably need just a few more to get all you want.

Good luck.

*Ditto* I would get one of these first as a walk around...you may find that you'll never take it off.
