Neat, it shows that there really is a "decisive moment" and both photographers were skilled enough to capture it. It sure looks like the 1d captured the better quality photo, though! |

Is gray the cool new color to be?

Okay, something is bugging me.
I'll concede that two photographers could take the exact same shot within a fraction of a second of eachother.
But, what is really bugging me about the shot is that the bottom shot looks like it was taken from a photographer standing 2 or 3, maybe slightly more, feet further to the right than the other (based on teh background of the shot), yet the three guys are identical in every way.
Maybe I'm just too skeptical, but something just looks a bit fishy to me. Zerocusa, is one of hte shots yours?

From far enough away they would look the same from slightly different locations.

I thought the same thing at first, but if you look a little closer...
The distance between the hand of guy #3 and the leg of guy #2 is different.
The hair of guy #1 is different in the two photos.
The position guy #2's foot in proximity to guy #3's leg is different in the two also.
Very subtle differences, but enough to convince me the two are legitimate. Taken at nearly the exact same time.
Pretty amazing!
Edit to add quote.

This struck me as odd too - but if you look closely, there seem to be very subtle differences (or is it just the picture quality that makes them appear to be differences?) The guy's left foot relative to the other guys' crotch seems to be slightly different.. the ballhandler's hair looks a bit wilder in the second photo.. and the distance between the ballhandler's arm and body is different between the two photos as well.
Which 300mm and 400mm lenses were used? I'm presuming the L on the second (if these are indeed shots with Canon), but what about the first?
edit: Wow, too slow! Interesting that we mentioned 2 out of 3 of the same things.

A very easy way to tell the difference is look at the advertisements in the background...see how the hand coming over to swipe the ball is different is in location to the red "N" and the difference in body location in relation to the green advertisement
Great thread, I enjoyed seeing that, yeah, they had to be only a couple feet away from each other.
