I am unsure of how to vote on pictures that meet the challenge but have been processed (legally) so much that they look abstract or more like digital art than a picture. |

If you feel they should be DQ'd then put in a request. But the important thing is to vote as if they are perfectly legal. |

They look legal, I'm just not sure what to judge it on. Normal focus, depth, etc just don't apply to abstracts. |

There was nothing to say that it couldn't be abstract though, so vote on it according to how you like it. |

Colour, appropriateness (sp?) for the challenge. Appeal to you, would you want it on your wall on in your portfolio? And tell em why - I try to comment on anything I rate 4 or below or 8 upward, and anything else that sticks out. |

How about commenting on those 5-7 on how to make their photo an 8-10?

I have gotten a few emails about my comments--mostly defending their shots. I can imagine what I would get if I said "I personally don't like abstracts"! Maybe I just shouldn't vote on them... |

if you think the post processing ruins the photo, tell them so in a comment, and vote approriately. |

Unfortunately, those ones wait until last. If I DO get time to comment on all, they will get comments. |

How can anyone arugue with that -- no one can tell you what you like or don't like.
That doesn't mean you can't appreciate an abstract. Surely, even if you don't "like" abstracts in general, it's unlikely that they all engender quite the same degree of revulsion such that they'd all deserve exactly the same vote.
I'd have a hard time with someone voting every abstract a one, merely for being an abstract, but no argument with someone who really doesn't like them spreading their votes out over, say, a one-to-three range, in recognition that some are still "better" than others. |

I might even give a 4 or 5! I doubt I would give over a 7 unless it really pertained to the challenge. |
