What is the importance of eyes in a portrait from your point of view? Can they speak? ;o)

Any sample of that?

To me, they are very important... usually the heart and soul of most portraits.

Anything by Librodo answers your question in the affirmative. Latest example:

in certain circumstances the eyes are not necessary to 'see' the individuals personality or traits. for me anyhow, but generally the eyes are pretty important, and should be in crisp focus.

EDIT - oddly enough i uploaded this photo exactly a year ago...

Thanks Robert for your reply. Actually I am a fan of Mr. Librodo. And he is also my GURU (teacher). He has given lots of photographic tips to me about how to take good portraits. He is not only a great photographer but also a great human being.

just about any full body portrait isn't going to focus on the eyes... especially when you have to fit a whole body into 640 pixels!

Totally subjective... it just depends on what you are trying to achieve through your photo and the means you are using to do it. There has to be a context.

Clearly the eyes can be a powerful focal point, but they are not the only focal point.

It depends on the picture and observer. An example with the same subject:

First one is "eyes centric" the second is more towards the mood of the moment.
